Mr. Chan

After completing a BSocSc(Hons) and an MSW with an HSBC scholarship at the University of Hong Kong, Mr. Chan attained his MBA from the University of New South Wales with a full merit scholarship from the Australian Government.  He had taught English at different secondary schools and the Open University of Hong Kong before founding E-Smart in 1999.  Currently, he is also an EMDR therapist in private practice.

 

Ms. Heidy

A graduate in early childhood education of University of Washington , Miss Heidy had taught in a kindergarten in Washington for 5 years before relocating to Hong Kong in 2004 when she started teaching at English learning centres and kindergartens. She has also attained the University of Cambridge TESOL Certificate for teaching English to young learners.  She started teaching at E-Smart in 2007.

 

Mr. Steve

Mr. Steve received his teacher training at Wodensborough Community Technology College in England.  An experienced English and drama teacher, Mr. Steve has been teaching at E-Smart since 2010.

 

Mr. Philip

A Cert-TESOL qualified teacher, Mr. Philip graduated from University of Surrey and has extensive experience in teaching English to students of all ages.  A seasoned editor, he has been teaching at E-Smart since 2013.

 

Ms. Lavina

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Ms. Lavina attended Kowloon Junior and King George V School in Hong Kong and attained a BSc in marketing from Woodbury University in Southern California.  She has been teaching at E-Smart since 2016, and a lot of students have become much better readers and writers of English under her tutelage.

 

Mr. Hugo

Mr. Hugo graduated with a BA(Hons) in Philosophy from University College London and an MSc in International Relations from Bristol University.  He has also attained a postgraduate diploma in education (PGDE) with a major in English and a DipTESOL from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.  Having taught at different local secondary schools, he first taught at E-Smart in 2014. 

 

Mr. Marcus

With an MA from University of Westminster, a BEng from South Bank University and a Cert-TESOL from EFA Trinity College of London, Mr. Marcus is an experienced native English teacher who has taught at different learning centres, local schools and international schools.  Highly attuned to the needs of students from different backgrounds, he always ensures his class is fun and inspirational for them.

 

Mr. Matthew

A graduate from University of Bradford and a TESOL and TEAFL qualified teacher, Mr. Matthew is highly experienced in teaching students of different ages who learn English as a foreign language.

 

Ms. Carola

German of origin, Ms. Carola holds a degree in Design from Commercial College of Design, Essen, Germany, and a Diploma in Garment Engineering from FH Niederrhein.  Ms. Carola is multi-lingual, fluent in English, German, Italian and Indonesian.  A highly experienced consultant, active Rotarian and editor, she has helped students learn much beyond the different aspects of English.

 

Mr. Eric

Mr. Eric graduated from the London School of Economics with a BSc in Social Anthropology and an MSc in Digital Anthropology from University College London.  In addition to teaching English, he has extensive experience of editing essays and dissertations written by university and postgraduate students.
